The NIST Data Gateway is an online system designed to provide users with easy access to NIST scientific and technical data. The Gateway provides:
The scope of Version 4.0 of the Gateway is 105 NIST databases: 53 online systems with scientific and technical data as well as 48 PC products. The PC products include 26 standard reference databases and 25 imaging databases available from the NIST Scientific and Technical Databases Web site (www.nist.gov/srd). Additional NIST databases will be included in future versions of the Gateway.
Version 4.0 also provides a new search menu (accessible from the JPCRD link) for 769 articles published in the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data between 1972 and 2003. Full text online versions of over 350 articles can be accessed from the NIST Data Gateway in PDF format. For the articles that are not available online, including those published within the last five years, ordering information for reprints is provided. In addition, links are available to abstracts at the American Institute of Physics Web site for all articles published between 1975 and 2003.
Finally, Version 4.0 provides, through the keyword search option, links to information on over 1100 NIST Standard Reference Materials described in the NIST Standard Reference Materials Web site (www.nist.gov/srm) and over 600 NIST Calibration Services described in the NIST Calibration Services Web site (ts.nist.gov/calibrations).
The Gateway can be searched by keyword, property, and substance name. Over 1000 keywords and properties as well as over 140,000 substance names and synonyms are available in Version 4.0 of the Gateway. Search results are as follows:

Option 2. Select the first letter of a keyword
Click the first letter of the keyword of interest. A list of all keywords starting with that letter will be displayed. Click a keyword in the list to search.
There are two different property searches: Name and Category. Click the hyperlink for the desired type. The default is to search by Name.

Click the first letter of the property of interest. A list of all properties starting with that letter will be displayed. Click a property in the list to search.

There are three different substance searches: Name, Advanced Search, and Element. Click the hyperlink for the type desired. The default is to search by Name.
Enter a substance name, e.g., methane, benzene, proteinase, silicon nitride, fiberboard, or glass. Then press the "Submit" button to search. If no hits are found for the exact substance name entered, try entering partial names using the Advanced Search.

Up to three partial text strings can be entered as follows:

After the Find Matches search is completed, all substance names matching the query criteria will be displayed in a pop-up window. Click a substance in the list to search for all databases with data for that substance.

Click the element in the periodic table to search for databases containing data for that element.
Then click on a database in the search results list to link to that specific database. Note that for some databases, the links go directly to the data page that pertains specifically to the selected element. For other databases, the links go to the opening screen.
To search articles published in the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data, click [JPCRD].
Searching is provided on any combination of title, author name, publication year, and either keyword or substance. There is an implicit AND between each of the criteria. For example, if you enter "salt" in the title box and select '1980' as one of the values for year published and click submit, all articles published in 1980 that have 'salt' in their titles will be listed on the results page. Only keyword or substance can be searched at one time.
If any article in the search is available online in Adobe PDF format, the Full Text PDF link will take you to the article. If it is not available online, click on Abstract to view the abstract or Order to order the article from the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data web site.
If the data published in the article are available in the IUPAC - NIST Solubility Database, click Solubility Database to show the systems in that volume of the IUPAC - NIST Solubility Database.
