Measurement Method: Mutual inductance
"Pressure was applied hydrostatically. Force was transmitted through tungsten carbide pistons within a cylindrical beryllium-copper clamp to a Teflon capsule containing samples (of mass 0.08 to 0.15 g) in a 50:50 solution of n-pentane and isoamyl alcohol. The pressure was determined... from the Tc of a piece of indium included inside the capsule. Low temperatures were obtained using a closed-cycle helium refrigerator... and temperatures were determined by a Ge resistance thermometer. We estimate the temperature accuracy to be ±2%. Low frequency mutual inductance measurements were used to document superconducting transitions. The detection apparatus consists of transformer coils concentric around the pressure clamp. The secondary is split and wired in series opposition; one-half is centered on the capsule."
