Material Specification for Bi:2223; [Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O]
Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "Samples... were prepared in air by a three-step reaction process involving a matrix method. High-purity (3-4N) Bi2O3, PbO, CaCO3 and SrCO3 powders in appropriate ratio were thoroughly mixed and calcined at 820 °C for 12 h. The resultant matrix was reground and mixed thoroughly with CuO powder in proper ratio and pressed into disc-shaped pellets (7 ton/cm2). These pellets were heat treated at 900 °C for about 5-10 min and then quenched in air to room temperature. The black pellets so obtained were reground and pelletized (10 ton/cm2). Samples... were prepared by sintering the... pellets... followed by furnace cooling to 400 °C, annealing at this temperature for (about) 12 h and then air quenching at room temperature."
