Notes: The authors cite J.A. Deluca et al., J. Mater. Res., Vol. 6, 1415 (1991), and summarize the procedure as follows. "Partially stabilized zironia with grain size (about) 0.3 µm was used as the substrate. Optical micrographs show the samples to have a platelike grain morphology with grain diameters of 10-100 µm. X-ray diffraction... indicates the 1223 phase to be dominant with a large degree of uniaxial alignment of the c-axis normal to the substrate... The film thicknesses are typically 2-3 µm."

Measurement Method: Four-probe method
"Transport measurements were made with a 4-pt configuration of the leads across a 0.4 mm x 0.1 mm bridge etched into the film... the low field critical current (is) defined at an electric field criterion of 1 µV/cm... the magnetic field dependence of Jc... (was reported for) the field applied perpendicular to the film surface... The irreversibility field was defined by the B-T point where the critical current falls below 103 A/cm2."
