Material Specification for Tl:1212; [Tl(Pb)-Sr(La)-Ca-Cu-O]
Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "Samples... were prepared by making stoichiometric mixes of oven-dried Ca(NO3)2, Sr(NO3)2, Y2O3, and CuO as appropriate and decomposing the nitrates at 700 °C for 1 h, adding stoichiometric quantities of Tl2O3 and PbO, milling the mixture thoroughly and die-pressing 10 mm diam pellets. These were sealed under an oxygen atmosphere into gold bags, together with small amounts of AgO powder which provide excess oxygen during the reaction. Materials were reacted for 3 h at 950 °C and then quenched to room temperature. Subsequent annealing of the pellets at 700 °C for 1 h in (0.1 MPa = 1 bar) O2 frequently sharpened the superconducting transition."
