Materials and Properties

Dy:123; [Dy-Ba(Sr)-Cu-O]
Material Specification for Dy:123; [Dy-Ba(Sr)-Cu-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "DyBaSrCu3Oy was prepared by mixing stoichiometric quantities of Dy2O3 (purity >99.9%), BaCO3 (>99.9%), SrCO3 (>99.9%) and CuO (>99.99%). After grinding the mixture in an automatic mill for an hour, the powder was pressed into pellets. The calcination of these pellets was carried out in air at 940 °C for 24 h, and then furnace cooled down to room temperature. The calcined pellets were then ground again for another hour, and pressed into pellets of 13 mm diameter with a pressure of 800 MPa. The second calcination, carried out under oxygen atmosphere, was performed at 940 °C for 24 h. The samples were then cooled down to room temperature at a rate of 100 °C per hour in an oxygen atmosphere. We henceforth denote these samples as Dy(T). An additional thermal treatment was done to some of the samples: first they were heated to 940 °C and maintained at that temperature for two hours, and then quenched to room temperature. Further oxygen annealing was performed at 650 °C for two hours and then the samples were cooled down to room temperature at 100 °C per hour under oxygen atmosphere. These samples are denoted as Dy(O)."

"Structural determination was carried out by the powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique at room temperature by using CuKα radiation. The lattice parameters were calculated by a least squares refinement." No additional measurement details were noted.

"The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity was measured by employing a standard DC four-point probe technique from room temperature down to 10 K. Room temperature resistivity was determined by using the Van der Pauw method on a pellet with a thickness of about 0.7 mm."
