Materials and Properties

Bi:2223; [Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O]
Material Specification for Bi:2223; [Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: The authors cite M. Takano et al., Jpn. J. Appl. Phys., Vol. 27, L1041 (1988), and summarize the procedure as follows. "The sample was prepared by an ordinary solid-state reaction method... Powders of Bi2O3, Pb3O4, SrCO3, CaCO3, CuO were mixed with the typical ratio of Bi:Pb:Sr:Ca:Cu = 1.85:0.35:1.9:2.1:3.1, calcined at 830 °C for 20 h, and pressed into pellets. The pellets were sintered at 860-870 °C for 50-100 h in flowing nitrogen (sample A)... the sintered pellet was pulverized, re-pressed, and sintered again at a slightly lower temperature (830 °C)(sample B) or at almost the same temperature (sample C)... for 3 h."
