Materials and Properties

Ho:123; [Ho(Y)-Ba-Cu-O]
Gd:123; [Gd(Y)-Ba-Cu-O]
Material Specification for Ho:123; [Ho(Y)-Ba-Cu-O] Process: Melt Processed
Notes: "... powders were prepared by using Y2O3, Ho2O3, Gd2O3, BaCO3 and CuO through a powder sintering process. These powders were well mixed and cold pressed into a rectangular shape. Bars with dimensions of 0.8-1 x 1-1.2 x 30-80 mm3 were obtained and used as starting materials. These specimens were put into a tube furnace with a temperature gradient of 50-100 °C/cm for the melting process. The highest temperature in the melt zone... was 1010-1080 °C. The moving rate of the sample was between 0.8-3 mm/h. Finally, the samples were annealed at 500-600 °C for 40-60 h in oxygen."
Formula: Ho1-xYxBa2Cu3Oy
Informal Name: Ho:123
Chemical Family: Ho(Y)-Ba-Cu-O
Chemical Class: Oxide

Measurement Method: Pulsed current method
"The critical currents were measured by a pulse current method, with a voltage criterion of 3 µV/cm. The cross-section of the sample was about 0.4 mm2." No additional measurement details were noted.
