Material Specification for Y:123; [Y(Ca)-Ba-Cu(Co)-O]
Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "Adequate mixtures of Y2O3, BaCO3, CaCO3, CuO and Co3O4 were calcined in air at 950 °C for several days, reground, and heated again in an oxygen flow at 980 °C for 24 h, and at 400 °C for 12 h, and finally slowly cooled down to room temperature. This first series of samples, only prepared in an oxidizing atmosphere is labelled [O]. Two of the above samples, x=0.12 and 0.36, were heated in an argon flow at 850 °C for 24 h, in order to favour the "O6" composition, i.e. to induce the eventual migration of cobalt from the Cu(1) to the Cu(2) sites. The latter samples were then annnealed in an oxygen flow at low temperature, 400 °C, for 5 h in order to avoid the back migration of cations and to fully oxidize the cuprate. These samples are labelled [AO]."

Measurement Method: Neutron diffraction
"Powder neutron diffraction data were collected on the 3t2 diffractometer ( (wavelenth) =1.2269 σ) at LLB Saclay. The structure and cell parameters of these oxides were refined with the Rietveld DBW 3.2 program. Neutron scattering lengths were 0.72 (Y), 0.525 (Ba), 0.49 (Ca), 0.7718 (Cu), 0.5805 (O) and 0.25 (Co) (in 10
-12 cm)."
Cautions: Evaluated Data
For process condition [AO] and x = 0.12, the structure was refined as orthorhombic with space group = Pmmm.
