Bi:2212; [Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu(Co)-O]
Material Specification for Bi:2212; [Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu(Fe)-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: The authors cite A. Ono, Jpn. J. Appl. Phys., Vol. 28, L1372 (1989), and summarize the procedure as follows. "High purity Bi2O3 (99.999%), CuO (99.999%), SrCO3 (99.999%), and CaCO3 (99.98%), all Cerac, UK) were taken in stoichiometric proportions, ground thoroughly and calcined in air at 810 °C for about 16 h. The powder was then heated at 840 °C, 6 h, and 875 °C, 10 h, with intermediate grinding. The resulting black powder was pressed into pellets (diam. 8 mm and 12 mm, thickness 1-2 mm; WC-lined stainless steel die; 4-5 tons/cm2 pressure) and sintered at 870 °C for 10 h and furnace cooled to room temperature. The pellets were then introduced into a pre-heated furnace at either 805 °C or 550 °C, annealed for 90 min followed by quenching in liquid N2/air... All the Fe and Co doped phases were... prepared using identical preparative conditions as that of the undoped phase, starting with high purity Fe2O3 (99.999% Cerac UK) or Co3O4 (Fisher 99.99%, UK).
