Material Specification for Tl:221; [Tl-Ba-Cu-O]
Process: Melt Processed
Notes: "This paper reports the crystal growth... in a liquid coexisting with solid. ... Nominal cations ratio of Tl:Ba:Ca:Cu in starting mixtures were 2:2:0:2 for Tl-2201 and 1.5:2:3:1.5 for Tl-2212. Each mixture of raw materials of Tl2O3(3N), BaO2(4N), CuO(4N) and CaO(3N) was sealed tightly in a gold capsule. It was heated in a vertical electric furnace in a flow of oxygen gas. After soaking at each prescribed temperature for several hours, it was cooled down to another prescribed temperature at a rate of 2 °C/h and then rapidly to the room temperature in the furnace. The conditions were in the coexisting region of liquid and solid. ... Platelet thick crystals of Tl-2201 are obtained in the typical size of about 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm x 50 µm. The maximum size is about 1.5 mm x 1.5 mm x 100 µm. Polyhedral thick crystals of Tl-2212 are obtained... The typical size is about 1 mm x 1 mm x 100 µm and the maximum size about 2 mm x 2 mm x 500 µm."

Measurement Method: Four-probe method
The authors cite Y. Iye et al., Physica C, Vol. 153-155, 26 (1988), and summarize the procedure as follows. "Temperature dependence of resistivity of several crystals was measured by a conventional dc four probe method between 1.5 K and 300 K in applied magnetic fields up to 9 T. The direction of the excitation current of 1 mA was in the ab-phane."
Cautions: Evaluated Data
Angle(c,H) is the angle between the c-axis and the direction of the applied magnetic field.
