Hg:121; [Hg-Ba-Cu-O]
Material Specification for Hg:121; [Hg-Ba-Cu-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: The authors cite Q. Ziong et al., Physica C, Vol. 231, 233 (1994), and summarize the procedure as follows. "Hg-1201 samples were prepared by reacting a precursor pellet of Ba2CuOx and a composite Hg source inside an evacuated quartz tube at about 810 °C... Samples with different oxygen content were obtained by annealing the as-synthesized samples at different oxygen partial pressure P(O2) (100 µPa to 50 MPa) between 200°C and 500°C."

Measurement Method: SQUID magnetometer
"The Tc was measured by a Quantum Design SQUID magnetometer and the standard four-probe technique. The oxygen surplus was measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and calibrated using neutron powder diffraction (NPD). ... To avoid possible Hg evaporation, the TGA measurements were carried out at a standard condition of 260 °C and (0.1 MPa = 1 atm) O2 for various annealed samples. The mass change during a period of about 100 h was taken as δ-δ0; here δ0 was the equilibrium oxygen surplus of Hg1201 at the standard condition and was subsequently deduced from the NPD data of two annealed Hg1201 samples."
