"The YBa2Cu3Ox sample with (a mole fraction of 30 %) of Y2BaCuO5 inclusions was prepared by the MPMG process. In this method, the Y-Ba-Cu-O sample is first melted at temperatures above 1300 °C and cooled down to room temperature. Later it is reheated up to a temperature region between 1000-1200 °C followed by rapid cooling to a temperature at which the superconducting phase starts nucleating. During remelting Y2O3 reacts with the liquid to form Y2BaCuO5 which in turn reacts with the liquid to produce the YBa2Cu3O7 phase. As a result, fine Y211 particles of about 1 µm in diameter are dispersed in the matrix of 123 phase."
