Materials and Properties

Bi:1112; [Bi-Sr-Ca(Al)-Cu-O]
Material Specification for Bi:1112; [Bi-Sr-Ca(Al)-Cu-O] Process: Melt Processed
Notes: "Mixtures of commercial reagent grade chemicals of Bi2O3 (99.0%), CaCO3 (99%), SrCO3 (98%), CuO (99%)... and Al(OH)3 (95%) were melted in a Pt crucible at 1150 °C for 30 min in an electric furnace... The melts were quenched by vacuum casting into fused silica tubes (about 2 mm diameter), resulting in the formation of crystal-free glassy rod specimens... the as-cast glassy rod specimens... were cut into 25 mm lengths and then heated in air at a heating rate of 2 °C/min to a given temperature at which they were held for 50 h. "The specimens... were cooled to room temperature in the furnace at a cooling rate of 7 °C/min;..."
