Measurement Method: Laser flash method
The authors cite W.J. Parker et al., J. Appl. Phys., Vol. 32, 1679 (1961), and summarize the procedure as follows. "The laser flash method of measuring thermal diffusivity involves using a laser to apply a heat pulse to the front surface of a thin slab of material and measuring the transit time of the heat to the rear surface... The thin superconducting sample was supported on a thermocouple... cross junction inside an evacuated quartz tube placed in a programmable tube furnace. The top surface of the sample was heated with a single 7 ms pulse from a Nd-YAG laser (wavelength = 1.06 µm)... The diffusivity was calculated using the time to half-height, taking into account the effect of cooling..."
