Materials and Properties

CaLa:122; [Ca-La(Sr)-Cu-O]
Material Specification for CaLa:122; [Ca-La(Sr)-Cu-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "Appropriate amounts of La2O3, SrCO3, CaCO3 and CuO powders were weighed to fabricate the La1.8Sr0.2CaCu2O6 samples. The powders were ball milled with ethanol for 10 h. After drying, the mixed powder was calcined four times at 900 °C for 10 h in flowing oxygen with intermediate grindings. Next, the calcined powder was first pulverized and then pressed into bar-shaped samples, which were subsequently sintered at 950 °C for 72 h in flowing oxygen. Finally, the sintered samples were HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing)-annealed at 1020 °C for 50 h under a total pressure of (100 MPa = 1000 atm) (oxygen pressure of (20 MPa = 200 atm) and argon, (80 MPa = 800 atm))."

Measurement Method: Neutron diffraction
"The crystallographic structure... was examined by means of neutron powder diffraction... Approximately 15 g... filled a standard 3/8" (0.95 cm) diameter vanadium sample tube, which was maintained at 300 K. Data were collected in detector banks at ±153°, ±90° and ±40° for 30.6 µA•h."
