Materials and Properties

YW:121; [Y-Ba-Cu(W)-O]
Material Specification for YW:121; [Y-Ba-Cu(W)-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "The samples... were prepared by solid state reaction. High purity powders of BaCO3, Y2O3, CuO and WO3 were mixed in the appropriated amounts and calcined in air at 800 °C for 2 h. The powders obtained were sintered at temperatures between 950 and 1200 °C, and then reground and sintered several times. The total sintering time per sample was around 20 h. Some samples were cooled slowly in air and others were quenched in air or in liquid nitrogen from the sintering temperature."

Measurement Method: X-ray diffraction
"The identification of the phases in the samples was done by X-ray diffraction at room temperature. The diffractometer uses CuKα radiation with a secondary beam monochromator. The diffractograms were taken with an increment in 2θ of 0.05° for the low resolution and of 0.005° for the high resolution diffractograms, and measuring times between 1 s and 40 s per point."
