Materials and Properties

Bi:2212; [Bi(Pb)-Sr(Nd)-Ca-Cu-O]
Material Specification for Bi:2212; [Bi(Pb)-Sr(Nd)-Ca-Cu-O] Process: Solid State Reaction
Notes: "Samples... were prepared by heating appropriate mixtures of Bi3)3*5H2O (DAB 6; Merck), PbO (p.A.; Merck), Sr(NO3)2 (p.A.; Merck), CaCO3 (p.A.; Merck), Nd2O3 (99.9%; Rhone Poulenc) and CuO (p.A.; Merck) in corundum boats (Degussit Al 23) in air at 870 °C. The reaction was interrupted several times for regrindings and for X-ray analysis... The heat treatment was stopped after no further change was detected on the X-ray diagram. This stage was obtained after a reaction time above 150 h and a pelletizing process was introduced. ... Aliquots of these materials were subsequently subjected to several operations: heating about 3 h at the reaction temperature and air quenching (AQ), quenching with liquid N2 (LN) and post-annealing at the reaction temperature for about 70 h (PA)."
