"Materials for High-Temperature Ceramic Heat Exchanges," V.J. Tennery and P.F. Becher, DOE Report DE82-002874 (1981), published by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Metals and Ceramics Division.Language: English
Sintering aids for Material #1: MgO and Material #2: Al2O3. Phases for Materials #3: α, FeWSi.
The study examined "strength degradation due to exposure...to combustion products of oil plus 10% coal (acidic ash) with slagging conditions. Four-point flexure strengths were measured for as-received surface ground condition (A), after about 500 h exposure at 1220°C with oxide layer resulting from exposure in tact (B), and after surfaces of exposed samples were diamond ground to expose "unreacted" ceramic material (C)." The mass fraction compositions of the coal-oil-mixture were 10 % bituminous coal which contained 7.6 % acidic ash having high concentrations of 45 % SiO2, 25 % Al2O3, and 20 % Fe2O3 oxides.
