The specimen was a commercially available siliconized reaction-bonded silicon carbide.
A four point bend apparatus was used with 1/4-point loading, with an outer span of 2.57 cm and a loading rate of 0.0508 cm/min. The specimen cross section was 0.635 cm wide by 0.3175 cm high. The strength data were analyzed using a 2-parameter Weibull distribution.
