"Manufacturing and High Temperature Mechanical Properties of Si-N-O Ceramic Fibers," M. Sato and K. Okamura, Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, Vol. 106 [3], pp. 248-255 (1998), published by Ceramic Society of Japan.Language: English
"Synthesis of Si-N-O ceramic fibers: ... Polycarbosilane was melt-spun at 310 °C in an N2 gas by monohole method. The obtained polycarbosilane fibers had a diameter of 18 µm. The polycarbosilane fibers were thermal oxidation cured by the heat treatment in a temperature between 145 °C and 180 °C at the heating rate of 10 °C·h-1 in an O2 gas (purity: 99.99%). ... The curing was achieved at each temperature for 1 h. The cured polycarbosilane fibers were heated at the heating rate of 100 °C·h-1 from room temperature to 1200 °C, 1300 °C, 1400 °C, 1450 °C, and 1500 °C in a stream of NH3 gas (purity: 99.99%), and were kept for 1 h at each temperature so that Si-N-O ceramic fibers were obtained."
"Tensile strength and Young's modulus of Si-N-O ceramic fibers were measured by a universal testing machine made by Toyo Baldwin Co., Ltd., Tensilon UTM-II-20 (25 mm gage length and 2 mm·min-1 crosshead speed at room temperature)."
