Measurement Methods

Laser flash technique
"The thermal conductivity TC was determined by the well known laser flash technique from TC = αcpd, where α is the thermal diffusivity, cp the specific heat capacity at constant pressure, d the density. At temperatures above 300 K an In-Sb detector was used, and below 300 K a liquid He-cooled Ge-Zn detector was used to follow the temperature increase on the rear face of the laser-flash-heated samples. The equipment was checked with NBS reference material 8425 (Poco graphite) resulting in a standard deviation of 3% in the whole temperature range."
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
"The specific heat capacity was measured with a Perkin-Elmer DSC 2, standard deviation 2%. No additional measurement details were noted.
Dilatometry
