Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
A weighted amount of 1,1-dichloroethane was mixed with 1000 g water in a bottle and immersed in a waterbath thermostat. The bottle was placed on a shaker and shaken until no more droplets of the liquid remained undissolved. The concentration of  1,1-dichloroethane in water was determined using a Zeiss water interferometer. One or more samples were syphoned out for the determination of the solubility. The German translation of the article is also published.1

Source and Purity of Materials:
   (1) Commercial reagent, fractionally distilled before use.
   (2) Distilled.

Estimated Errors:
   Solubility: ± 2.0 %.
   Temperature: ± 0.01 K.
