Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
Saturated solution was prepared by adding an excess of solute to water in a closed flask with standing for 24 hours. Then, the sample was allowed to settle at 25°C in a thermostat bath for at least 48 hours before analysis. The solubility was determined by solvent extraction followed by gas chromatographic analysis using a Hewlett Packard Model 5750 apparatus (equipped with a flame ionization detector and a 10 ft stainless steel column packed with 10% SE 30 ultraphase on high performance Chromosorb P, 60/80 mesh).
Source and Purity of Materials:
(1) Commercial product (BDH), evidently used as received.
(2) Source and purity not specified.
Estimated Errors:
Solubility: ±3% (authors, the value is based on the std. error of the least squares fit on the solubility of 1,4-dichlorobenzene in water and aqueous electrolyte solutions.
Temperature: ± 0.2 K (compiler).
