Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The absorbance of saturated solutions of (2) in (1) were measured directly at 254 nm on a Unicam S.P. 500 spectrophotometer.
Source and Purity of Materials:
(1) source not specified; thiophenefree; recrystallized twice from ethanol, washed, filtered through silica gel and distilled.
(2) deionized and doubly distilled from alkaline potassium permanganate and aqueous phosphoric acid.
Estimated Errors:
Temperature: ± 0.05 K
absorbance ± 0.5%
