The apparatus consists of a gas buret, a solvent reservoir, and an absorption pipet. The volume of the pipet is determined at various meniscus heights by weighing a quantity of water. The meniscus height is read with a cathetometer. The dry gas is introduced into the degassed solvent. The gas and solvent are mixed with a magnetic stirrer until saturation. Care is taken to prevent solvent vapor from mixing with the solute gas in the gas buret. The volume of gas is determined from the gas buret readings, the volume of solvent is determined from the meniscus height in the absorption pipet.
