Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
A flask was charged with a trichloromethane and water mixture of approximately the desired composition. The system was allowed to equilibrate in a water bath at the desired temperature. Samples were withdrawn from the two layers and concentrations were de termined. The analytical techniques are described elsewhere (ref. 1).
Source and Purity of Materials:
(1) U. S. P. grade. Washed with H
2
SO
4
and K
2
CO
3
solutions and then distilled. Only the center cut was used.
(2) Deionized, distilled twice before use.
