Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
An excess quantity of trichloromethane was added to water and stirred vigorously for 24 hours. After settling at 25
o
C for 48 hours, the solution was extracted with cyclohexane. The samples were analyzed using an Aminco-Bowman spectrophotofluorometer. A detailed description of the method has been reported elsewhere (ref. 1).
Source and Purity of Materials:
(1) Aldrich Chemicals, highest grade, used as received.
(2) Double distilled.
