Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
Water was mixed with diiodomethanme in a glass-stoppered Erlenmeyer flask which was then placed in a constant temperature bath and rotated for 30 hours. The organic halide content of the aqueous solution was extracted with n-hexane. The optical density of the extract was measured against a nhexane blank using a Beckman spectrophotometer (ref. 1).
