   (1) Sodium chloride; NaCl; [7647-14-5]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail
   (2) Carbon dioxide; CO2; [124-38-9]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail
   (3) Water; H2O; [7732-18-5]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail

Original Measurements:
   Yeh, S-Y.; Peterson, R.E., J. Pharm. Sci. 1964, 53, 822-4.

Variables:
   Temperature = 298.15 K to 318.15 K
   Pressure = 101.325 kPa
   Concentration = 102w2 = 0 and 0.9

Prepared By:
   Pirketta Scharlin

Experimental Remarks:

   In the original source the ΔH° and ΔS° values were given in the units cal mol-1 and cal K-1, respectively. Conversion to the SI units has been done by the compiler.

Notes:
   a  Calculated by the compiler.
   b  w2 = mass fraction of CaCl2
   c  m2 = molality of NaCl
   d  L = Ostwald coefficient (cm3 cm-3).

Each solubility value is the average of three or four measurements. The standard deviation of each measurement closely approximates 1 %.
   e  The thermodynamic changes are for the transfer of 1 mol of CO2 from the gas phase at a concentration of 1 mol dm-3 to the solution at a concentration of 1 mol dm-3.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
   Freshly boiled solution was introduced into 125 cm3 absorption flask of solubility apparatus (1), then frozen and boiled under vacuum three times. Water saturated gas was introduced and equilibrated (2) and weight of solution was determined.

Source and Purity of Materials:
   (1) Research grade. Matheson Co.
   (2) Analytical grade.
   (3) Distilled from glass apparatus.

Estimated Errors:
   Solubility: δL/L = 0.01
   Temperature: δT/K = 0.05
   Pressure: δP/mm Hg = 0.2
