Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
Samples of 1,2-dichloroethane saturated with water were analyzed by two different methods, a gas chromatographic method and a calcium hydride reaction method. The gas chromatographic method used a Varian Aerograph fitted with a thermal conductor  and the column packed with Poropak P and Q. The calcium hydride reaction method consisted of mixing the sample with CaH2 and determining the amount of hydrogen evolved from the reaction between the hydride and water present in the samples.
