Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The trichloroethene and air mixtures were prepared in gas cylinders under pressure. An Oxford vaporizer was used to produce a high concentration of trichloroethene. Water was equilibrated with the gas mixture by a simple bubbling technique. The saturated aqueous solution was treated with pyridiene and HCl solution to generate a yellow color which was measured spectrophotometrically using a filter transmitting at 430 m. u.
