Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
An aqueous solution with an excess amount of 1-chloro-2-methylpropane was stirred for one day before being introduced into a one liter glass vessel. Nitrogen entered at the bottom of the vessel through a sintered glass  disk. The exit gas flow rate was measured by a soap bubble flow meter. The concentration of 1-chloro-2-methylpropane in water was determined by gas chromatography.  The GC was equipped with both a dual flame ionization detector and an electron capture detector.
