Glass Ball as Bullet Solubility System: 1,2-Dibromopropane with Water

Components:
   (1) Water; H2O; [7732-18-5]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail
   (2) 1,2-Dibromopropane; C3H6Br2; [78-75-1]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail

Evaluator:
   A. L. Horvath, Imperial Chemical Industries Limited, Runcorn, U.K., July 1993.

Critical Evaluation:

The 1,2-dibromopropane (1) and water (2) binary system is treated in two parts; part 1 is 1,2-dibromopro-pane (1) in water (2) and part 2 is water (2) in 1,2-dibromopropane (1).

Part 1. The solubility of 1,2-dibromopropane (1) in water (2) has been studied by two work groups at two different temperatures. Therefore, a comparison of the measured values is not possible. The readers are referred to the relevant compilation sheets of Dreisbach1 and of Bauduin et al.,2 respectively.

Part 2. The solubility of water (2) in 1,2-dibromopropane (1) has been studied by Dreisbach1 only and there are no other measurements for comparison. Therefore, it is not possible to perform a critical evaluation. The readers are referred to the relevant compilation sheet for further details.
