A weighted amount of 1,3-dichloropropane was mixed with 1000 g water in a bottle and immersed in a water thermostat bath. The bottle was placed on a shaker and shaken until no more liquid droplets remained undissolved. The concentration of the 1,3-  dichloropropane in water was determined by a Zeiss water interferometer. One or more samples were syphoned out for the solubility determination. The German translation also has been published.1

Source and Purity of Materials:
   (1) Commercial reagent, fractionally distilled before use.
   (2) Distilled.

Estimated Errors:
   Solubility: ± 2.5 %.
   Temperature: ± 0.01 K.
