Solubility of Sulfur Dioxide in Polycarbonate
Pressure [kPa]Concentration C1 [cm3(STP)/cm3]
13.8712.8
79.4640.6
Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
A modified McBain balance technique was used to measure the solubility of sulfur dioxide in the polymer.

Source and Purity of Materials:
PC ("Lexan") with density = 1.119 g/cm3, provided by General Electric Co. (USA). Mw = 45,000; Tg = 422 K. Sulfur dioxide of 99.95 % purity was used.

Estimated Errors:

   Temperature: dT/K = ± 0.5 K.
