Notes:
Table 2  a   Saturated with ammonium nitrate.
Table 2  b  All systems saturated with UO2(NO3)2·6H2O.
Table 3  a  All systems saturated with UO2(NO3)2·6H2O.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The analytical method was used. The equilibrium procedure for determining the distribution curve has been reported in Warner.1 To obtain the final point on each curve, the system was saturated with (2) by agitation in the presence of excess solid for periods up to 8 to 10 hrs before sampling. After sampling each phase, the system stood overnight at 20 °C. The following day the system was intermittently agitated for a further 2 hr and the phases analyzed for (2) content to ensure saturation had been reached. The thorium concentration was derminted by evaporation of weighted aliquots, followed by ignition to thorium dioxide.

Source and Purity of Materials:
   (1) Source not specified; purity not specified; distilled.
   (2) Source not specified; purity not specified; purified as described in Warner.
   (3) Redistilled.

Estimated Errors:

   Temperature: control to ± 0.1 K.
