Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The method used was the isothermal decrease of supersaturation. Equilibrium was reached in 10-15 hrs. The cadmium content was determined complexometrically. The chloride ion content was determined volumetrically by the Mohr method. The cadmium formate concentration was estimated by difference. The composition of the ideally suction-dried solid phase was determined by the Schreinemakers method. X-ray diffraction and DT analysis were also used.
Source and Purity of Materials:
The cadmium chloride was p. a. grade (Merck). The cadmium formate was prepared by the reaction of dilute formic acid with cadmium oxide, carbonate or hydroxide all of which were p.a. grade (Merck or Fluka).
