4. Three-Component Systems

4.1. MCHO2-M1CHO2-H2O systems

        All the systems to be considered in this section consist of two uni-positive metal formates and water. Six such systems have been studied, but there is only one report for five of these systems.1-5 The solubility values contained in those reports are presented on the following pages without any attempt at a critical evaluation of the data because there are no other published experimentally-obtained solubility values.
        There are two reports dealing with the LiCHO2-KCHO2-H2O system.6,7 One of these papers7 contains solubility values obtained at 25 and 100 ºC, while the other6 contains solubility values obtained at 50 ºC plus a few values at about ten temperatures in the 25 to 273 ºC range. Of the values in this 25 to 273 ºC solubility range comparison with other values could be made only at 25, 50 and 100 ºC. There was fairly good agreement between the various values, but only a few data points could be compared at each temperature. Therefore, the published solubility values for this system cannot be critically evaluated.
