Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
   The isothermal method was used. One month was allowed for equilibration. The lithium content of both phases was determined by flame photometry. The aluminum content was determined complexometrically. The composition of the solid phases was determined by Schreinemakers' method, by IR spectroscopy, DT analysis and x-ray diffraction.

Source and Purity of Materials:
   Aluminum formate was prepared as described earlier,1 and so was lithium formate. 2
