Variables:
Temperature = 299.574 K
Prepared By:
N. I. Lisov and V. P. Sazonov
Experimental Remarks:
The upper critical solution temperature was reported to be 26.424 °C (299.692 K, compilers) at x

= 0.5000 (100 w
1
= 46.56, compilers).
Experimental Data:
(Notes on the Nomenclature)
Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The synthetic method was used. The critical separation temperatures were determined by visual observation of the appearance of a meniscus. Critical temperatures determined in separate closed tubes and in the viscometers agreed within experimental error. Solutions were prepared from weighed amounts of the pure components. All manipulations were carried out in a dry box to eliminate contamination by moisture.
Source and Purity of Materials:
(1) Purified by double distillation and by preparative gas chromatography; purity 99.97 mole % by GLC.
(2) Phillips; research grade; purity 99.99 mole %.
Estimated Errors:
Temperature: control to ±0.001 K
