Components:
   (1) 3-Methylpentane; C6H14; [96-14-0]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail
   (2) Nitroethane; C2H5NO2; [79-24-3]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail

Original Measurements:
   Beysens D.; Tufeu, R., Rev. Phys. Appl. 14, 907-9 (1979).

Variables:
   Temperature = 300 K to 301 K
   Pressure = P/kPa = 500 to 12500

Prepared By:
   V. P. Sazonov

Experimental Remarks:

   The variation of the critical temperature as a function of pressure in the critical mixture (1) and (2) over the temperature and pressure range were presented in a graphical form in original publication. The numerical data in the table below were extracted graphically by the compiler.

A value of dTcdP of 3.7 ± 0.5 10-8 K·Pa-1 was reported in the above pressure range.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
   The synthetic method was used. The mixture was mixed by heating the glass tube and varying the pressure; then the thermostat was set at a temperature high enough so that the mixture remained in the one phase region when the desired pressure was applied. When the thermal equilibrium was reached, the temperature was lowered. Another equilibrium takes place and an observation was done in order to detect the meniscus. If it is not visible, another step was performed.

Source and Purity of Materials:
   (1) Source not specified; purity 96.0 mass %; distilled; the impurity level less than 0.5 mass % by chromatography and NMR.
   (2) Source not specified; reagent for gas chromatography; not purified.

Estimated Errors:

   Temperature: ±0.01 K.
