Glass Ball as Bullet Solubility System: Fluorene with Benzene

Components:
   (1) Fluorene; C13H10; [86-73-7]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail
   (2) Benzene; C6H6; [71-43-2]  NIST Chemistry WebBook for detail

Evaluator:
W.E. Acree, Jr. Department of Chemistry University of North Texas Denton, Texas 76203-5068 (USA) August, 1994

Critical Evaluation:

Fluorene solubilities in benzene were retrieved from papers by Choi et al. (1), McLaughlin and Zainal (2), Mortimer (3) and Domanska et al. (4). All four studies values at several temperatures. There is no prior reason to exclude any of the four studies from the critical evaluation.
Regressional analysis of the experimental data as Ln x1 versus 1/T yielded the following mathematical relationship: Ln x1 = - 2668.6 (1/T) + 6.8891 (r=0.9995) for variation of fluorene solubility with absolute temperature (see graph).
