Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The method used was the isothermal decrease of supersaturation. Equilibrium was reached in about two days. The zinc content was determined complexometrically. The chloride ion content was determined volumetrically by the Mohr method. The metal formate concentration was estimated by difference. The composition of the ideally suction-dried solid phase was determined by the Schreinemakers method. X-ray diffraction and DT analysis were also carried out.
Source and Purity of Materials:
The zinc chloride was p.a. grade (Merck). The zinc formate was prepared by the reaction of dilute formic acid with p.a. grade zinc oxide.
