Notes:
a  These values were calculated by the compiler.
   b  The solid phases arre: A = NaCHO2•CH2O2; B = 3NaCHO2•CH2O2; C = NaCHO2.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The isothermal method was used. Equilibrium was reached within 24 hours. The sodium formate content was determined by potentiometric titration in a medium containing at least 50% acetone. Formic acid was determined by acidimetry. Acetone was determined spectrophotometrically using λ = 275 nm. The solid phase was determined by thermogravimetry.

Source and Purity of Materials:
Commercial NaCHO2 was dehydrated and dried at 413.2 K for 48 hours. Formic acid was purified by the method of Wehman and Popov.1 Purity: 99.9 ± 0.2 %. Commercial acetone was purified by drying with anhydrous CaSO4. 2 It contained 0.03% ± 0.01 % water.

Estimated Errors:

Temperature: The temperature was controlled to within ± 0.05 °C. Nothing else was specified.
