Notes:
   a  The solid phase are: A = LiCHO2 ; B = LiCHO2•KCHO2; C = KCHO2.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The isothermal method was used. Two weeks in a furnace equipped with Teflon vessels were allowed for equilibration. The lithium content of both phases was determined by flame photometry. The potassium content was determined by flame photometry and by the tetraphenyl borate method. The composition of the solid phases was determined by Schreinemakers' method.

Source and Purity of Materials:
The lithium and potassium formates were prepared by neutralizing 85% formic acid with the corresponding pro analysis grade hydroxides. After evaporation, the salts were washed with ethanol and dried over H2SO4. The products were LiCHO2•H2O and KCHO2. Anhydrous LiCHO2 was obtained by drying the hydrate at 100-110 °C in a N2 atmosphere.
