Notes:
   a  The solid phases are: A = LiCHO2•H2O and B = Sc(CHO2)3.

Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The isothermal method was used. Equilibrium was reached in 7 days. The lithium content of both phases was determined by flame photometry. The scandium content was determined by complexometric titration. The composition of the solid phase was determined by Schreinemakers' method.

Source and Purity of Materials:
The scandium formate was obtained by heating a mixture of reagent grade Sc 2O3 and formic acid. Lithium formate was prepared by reaction of 85% p.a. grade formic acid with p.a. grade LiOH. The crystals were washed with ethanol and dried over sulfuric acid. They were dehydrated by heating in a furnace at 100-110 °C in a nitrogen atmosphere.
