for detail
Original Measurements:
Clever, H.L.; Pirkle, Q.R. Jr.; Allen, B.J. Jr.; Derrick, M.E., J. Chem. Eng. Data 17, 31-4 (1972).
Variables:
Temperature = 331 K
Prepared By:
V. P. Sazonov and N. I. Lisov
Experimental Remarks:
Solubility of nitroethane (1) in decane (2) at 58.0 °C (331.2 K) was reported to be x

= 58.8, compilers).
Experimental Data:
(Notes on the Nomenclature)
Method/Apparatus/Procedure:
The synthetic method was used. Solution of (1) and (2) were prepared by mass from glass syringes in 13 mm×100 mm Kimax screw cap culture tubes and sealed with a Teflon-faced rubber liner. Tubes were immersed in a 3 L stirred water bath. Two cloud point observations were made visually; one at relatively fast cooling rate, and the second at a slow cooling rate to more precisely determines cloud point temperature.
Source and Purity of Materials:
(1) Matheson, Coleman and Bell; practical grade; distilled at 57°C/12.9 kPa.
(2) Phillips; purity 99 mol %.
Estimated Errors:
Temperature: ±0.1 K.
